Middle Eastern Dancer

About Ayperi

A Middle Eastern dancer from Lansing, Michigan, Ayperi specializes in American Cabaret Bellydance as well as classical Egyptian dance and folkloric dances from the Middle East and North Africa.  Ayperi has studied primarily with Yasmina Amal, though she has supplemented her training by attending workshops and camps with teachers such as Cassandra, Amel Tafsout, Bozenka and Tamalyn Dallal.

Ayperi is currently a member of the Habibi Dancers, a popular dance troupe in Michigan. She teaches in Lansing and dances statewide at various restaurants, festivals, and theatres.

Devoted to the art of bellydance, Ayperi looks to dance as a way to express her spirituality and femininity.  Her inspiration stems from the loving support of her friends and family, especially her husband, Jason.

The Habibi Dancers

The Habibi Dancers are a mid-Michigan based dance company specializing in Middle Eastern and related dance. The company is well-known for its annual concerts and its appearances at local events, summer art and ethnic festivals, and fairs. The company grew out of a performing dance group sponsored by Lansing Community College and was incorporated as an independent nonprofit dance company in 1983.

The Habibi Dancers are dedicated to studying and performing the dances of the Middle East and related forms from North Africa through central Asia. Offering Michigan audiences unique presentations of authentically costumed folkloric and classical dances from Egypt, Lebanon, Tunisia, Syria, the Arabian Peninsula, Persia and Morocco, the Habibi Dancers have enriched the local ethnic dance scene.
